QotD: What makes the grass always greener on the other side?
Over the years, I’ve noticed that I never really looked to the future of MMO releases in that “OMG, I’m dropping everything, when this comes out!” kind of way. When All Points Bulletin:Reloaded came out, I was curious, but I didn’t put anything on hold or stop playing anything I was already into. I was curious about RIFT, but it didn’t take away from anything I was already doing. I was deep into Runes of Magic and I knew I liked it. There is never any feeling of just playing an MMO as I wait for another MMO to come out, like I know I’m settling for second best. I play what I like, right now. If I don’t like it, I won’t play it and there’s no intermediate feeling of liking something but being easily pulled away from it when something I like more comes out.
Of course, I am also very, very slow to allow myself to like something in the first place, so maybe that is where my waiting for another game lies.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
What makes that approaching MMO so tantalizing that it could make you forget about the MMO you are currently involved in? In other words: What makes the grass always greener on the other side?
