You don’t know what tilt-shifting is? Well, go read about it(or not: it’s a very simple concept), and then come back here to read what I’m doing with online screenshots…

Okay, I’ll just give you a quick rundown. Tilt-shifting uses a blur effect combined with color enhancement to make large-scale, real-life objects look miniaturized(like a model train set).

• I am just learning, and so far it feels like a card game that’s easy to learn, but hard to master. I understand it, but don’t think I’m very good at it.

Above is my personal best at trying to make Dalanis look like a miniaturized city. Since many MMORPGs are fairly colorful(like Runes of Magic), I’ve left out the color enhancing part. It seems to work fairly well, and I’m finding that the location and angle of shot seems to do more for it than the effect-overlays.

I’m going to play around with some different games. I think WoW has a visual style that creates a terrific illusion of distance. I have a feeling tilt-shifting should work nicely on many screenshots from it. I currently don’t have an active subscription, so I will scrape sreenshots for practice. I’m also thinking Vanguard:Saga of Heroes will work well with all the terrific graphics it has. Vanguard does distance – and realism with distance – very well. You can already add a blur at a certain distance, with the in-game settings.

What other games should I look into, that would make great tilt-shift images? I also want to see everyone’s best tilt-shifted MMO screenshot So, gimme gimme gimme.
